Dog Sledding

Unleash Your Inner Musher

Experience dogsledding from the warm confines of the sled, taking in the views, or ride the back of the sled where you can experience dogsledding like a real musher! We can accommodate individuals, families, and corporate/private groups.

Our goal is to give you the same thrill and enjoyment we get every time we take our dogs out for a run.

Whether you are wanting to just meet our dogs and learn about what we do or want to head out on one of our many adventures, we guarantee an experience you will not soon forget. Come explore what our dreams are made of.

Our trips include 2 hour, half day , full day, and even multi-day adventures.

The Husky Dreamcatcher

The tour will begin with a brief instruction and then you will take off on your journey through the forest surrounding the Ranch aboard your Dog Sled. The first stop will give you a chance to explore Teepees in a Teepee encampment while learning about how dogs and horses have played a role in shaping Alberta’s History and landscape. Roast a marshmallow over the campfire and enjoy a steaming cup of hot chocolate with home baked cookies. Deer are often encountered on this tour and occasionally moose or elk. Wolf and cougar tracks are common as well as Snowshoe Hare and Coyote signs.

Once back on your sleds, you will loop around to see the Bison in the Ranch's Buffalo Viewing Paddock. Here you will have close-up viewing of the resident herd with the Bull and his cows, along with this years calves. The Trappers Cabin, just up the trail, offers a little history of the Kananaskis valley where you will see artifacts from bygone trapping days! Claw marks from our summer visitors, the Grizzly bears, are also pointed out. From here, with the dogs raring to go, you will head off for your final leg of the tour back to Boundary Ranch.

Mountain Musher

Experience what it is like to be a real musher. As you go down the lake, you will see the terrain change and ice flows appear that make you feel like you are out in the middle of the arctic tundra. As you loop around, you will see some spectacular views down the valley to the south end of the Spray Lakes.

As with all our tours, we start with approx. 30 min of orientation on dog sledding, dog handling, and equipment. You will then have an opportunity to meet the dogs and assist the guides with harnessing the dogs and setting up the teams. Once out on the trail, you will have the opportunity to drive the sled with the assistance of our qualified guide or you can just sit back, relax, & enjoy the views down the Spray Valley.

Once back at the trailhead, you will have some time to thank the dogs and give them treats, warm up in our tent by the fire and enjoy some hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies from the Mad Dog Cafe & Market.
